Born April 26, 1957, in Dixon, the son of Verle and Gwen (Weir) French. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked with the city of Loves Park for the past 20 years. Married Virginia G. "Ginny" Turner on Sept. 28, 1996, in Rockford. Chris enjoyed boating, fishing, gardening. Survived by his wife, Ginny of Rockton; daughters, Melissa Smith, Mandy French and Amy French all of Minnesota; two grandchildren; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; mother-in-law and father-in-law; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He was predeceased by his parents and grandparents. Funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, in Third Presbyterian Church, 1221 Custer Ave., Rockford. The Rev. Murray Hanson will officiate. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, in Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the family.
